Kerala Sets a Global Model: Comprehensive Preparations for Upcoming Elections

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar emphasized the critical role of pure electoral rolls in underpinning democracy, during an address on preparations for upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. He highlighted extensive initiatives to ensure no eligible voter is excluded while implementing stringent measures against ineligible voters.

Kumar lauded Kerala's pioneering contributions to election management, recalling the state's adoption of the first code of conduct in 1960 and its early use of electronic voting machines in the 1980s. The upcoming elections will feature numerous innovations, including 100% webcasting and polling stations managed entirely by women.

New facilities will prioritize accessibility, with provisions for senior citizens and those with disabilities. Enhancements include mobile technology integration for real-time updates and a strengthened model code of conduct enforced by CVIGIL mobile application. The initiative reflects India's commitment to maintaining democratic integrity.
