A majority consensus on a successor to Iran's slain Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been largely achieved, as confirmed by Assembly of Experts member Ayatollah Mohammadmehdi Mirbaqeri in a statement on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency.
Mirbaqeri highlighted that although headway had been made, certain obstacles still need to be addressed in the decision-making process, as reported.
Iranian media reported a minor disagreement among the body responsible for appointing Iran's supreme leader. The contention revolves around whether their final decision should require an in-person meeting or if it can be issued without adhering to conventional formalities.
