Tensions Escalate: Israel's Strikes on Iranian Commanders in Beirut
Israel has expanded its military strikes to Beirut, targeting Iranian Quds Force commanders. The latest drone strike marks the first within Beirut's city limits amid continued hostilities with Hezbollah. Lebanon's health ministry reports a rising death toll, including significant civilian casualties. Israel warns Iranian representatives to leave Lebanon.
In a significant escalation of hostilities, Israel has targeted Iranian Quds Force commanders in Beirut, marking the first drone strike within Lebanon's capital since renewed conflict with Hezbollah. The strike comes amid increased bombardment across Lebanon, with nearly 400 fatalities reported by local authorities.
An Israeli military source indicated that the airstrike aimed at five senior members of the Quds Force, focusing on intelligence and finance personnel. Amid these attacks, Lebanon's health ministry reported the rising death toll, which includes a substantial number of civilians, notably women and children.
Israel has issued a stern warning to Iranian officials in Lebanon, urging them to leave or face being targeted. This follows the recent killing of a Quds Force commander in Tehran and the targeting of Hezbollah figures in Beirut's suburbs. The Lebanese government has ordered the arrest and deportation of Iranian Revolutionary Guards members.
