The Himachal Pradesh Government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, plans to introduce a 25% reservation for women in Class-III government posts. Announced during an International Women's Day event, this initiative aims to enhance women's participation in public services and uplift their status through various developmental programs.

The Himachal Pradesh Government is set to introduce a groundbreaking law that would allocate a 25% reservation for women in recruitment to Class-III posts across government departments. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at a state-level International Women's Day function, emphasizing the administration's commitment to bolstering women's roles in policing and other public services.

In his address at the Chaugan ground, Sukhu outlined his dual focus since assuming office: combatting conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the government and propelling Himachal Pradesh toward self-sufficiency by 2027, with a goal of being the wealthiest state by 2032. He highlighted the misuse of money power during the 2024 Rajya Sabha elections aimed at undermining the democratic process.

Other key announcements included a special recruitment drive for women sub-inspectors, a substantial Rs 500 crore allocation for Nahan Medical College, and expanded academic offerings at the Government College, Nahan. Additionally, measures to empower women, such as increasing the Mahila Samman Rashi and incentivizing widow remarriage, underline the government's prioritization of women's welfare.
