Authorities have filed charges against the captain of a Panama-registered ship named Solis after it collided with a fishing boat off the coast, resulting in two fishermen missing and nine others rescued, officials disclosed on Monday.

The Vizhinjam Coastal Police have taken legal action against the captain, following a complaint by Ramesh Mathew, the owner of the fishing vessel St Joseph, which departed for fishing on Friday. The two missing crew members are identified as Badal Das, 23, and Laxman Das, 45, both from West Bengal.

The FIR accuses the captain of navigating negligently, leading to the tragic incident in the Arabian Sea. Amid the ongoing search for missing fishermen, the Indian Coast Guard is fully engaged, while an investigation by the Director General of Shipping is underway.
