A retired district judge from Malkagjri has lost over Rs one crore to a 'digital arrest' scam orchestrated by cyber criminals, according to police reports.
Approximately a week ago, fraudsters contacted the 69-year-old judge, alleging his involvement in women trafficking through his mobile number. Under pressure and fearing legal repercussions, he transferred the sum before realizing the deception.
Despite his legal background, the retired judge fell for the scam due to the fear and intimidation tactics employed. Police are currently investigating the incident, aiming to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind this elaborate con.
