In an alarming case of mob lynching, four suspects have been arrested in Gumla district, Jharkhand, after an elderly woman was beaten to death over unfounded rumors that she was a child-lifter. The incident took place in Lagaba village, where the 55-year-old victim was brutally assaulted amidst a whirlwind of panic and misinformation.

The accused, identified as Tetra Oraon, Besai Oraon, Shivlal Oraon, and Etwa Oraon, have admitted their involvement in the fatal attack. They were taken into custody and are now facing prosecution under Section 103(2) of the BNS. Police are vigorously pursuing other potential culprits involved in this tragic case.

Officer-in-Charge Arjun Kumar Yadav revealed that the victim, described as mentally challenged and a wanderer, was mistaken as a threat by villagers. Despite having no evidence, she was beaten with sticks and stones, resulting in her death. The police have filed a First Information Report against 10-15 individuals and are calling it a clear case of lynching.
