Cabinet Approves ₹3,630 Cr Highway Link to Jewar Airport

The proposed 31.42 km corridor will provide direct and faster access from South Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurugram to Jewar International Airport, strengthening transport connectivity within the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the revised total capital cost of ₹3,630.77 crore for the construction of a greenfield highway connectivity project to Jewar International Airport from the Delhi–Faridabad–Ballabhgarh–Sohna spur of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway.

The project will be implemented on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) across the states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, aimed at significantly improving high-speed connectivity to the upcoming international airport in Jewar.

31 km High-Speed Corridor for NCR Connectivity

The proposed 31.42 km corridor will provide direct and faster access from South Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurugram to Jewar International Airport, strengthening transport connectivity within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Officials said the project is expected to enhance logistics efficiency and support economic growth by improving passenger and cargo movement to the airport and surrounding industrial hubs.

Key Multimodal Connectivity Points

The corridor will intersect several major infrastructure networks, enabling integrated transport connectivity, including:

• Eastern Peripheral Expressway

• Yamuna Expressway

• Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC)

This integration will facilitate seamless multimodal movement of passengers, freight, and logistics services across the NCR and beyond.

Elevated Highway Segment Planned

Out of the total project length, around 11 km will be developed as an elevated highway, forming a critical link between the DND–Ballabhgarh Bypass and Jewar International Airport.

The elevated stretch will connect the airport corridor with the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, ensuring smoother traffic flow and reducing congestion.

Strategic Role in Urban Development

The corridor passes through areas identified for high-density urban development under the Faridabad Master Plan 2031.

Officials said the elevated infrastructure will play a crucial role in supporting future infrastructure expansion, urban mobility, and regional planning.

The elevated section involves an additional project cost of ₹689.24 crore, of which the Government of Haryana has agreed to contribute ₹450 crore.

Boost to Logistics and Regional Economy

The project is expected to become a key transport artery linking the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway with Jewar International Airport, which is being developed as one of India’s largest aviation hubs.

Improved connectivity will strengthen trade, logistics, and economic activity in the NCR, while also supporting the broader vision of modern, integrated transport infrastructure across India.
