A 26-year-old man was apprehended in north Delhi's Burari for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm, which he showcased on social media to connect with gangsters, police reported on Thursday.

The individual, identified as Deepak alias Jhumri from Burari, was arrested as part of the Delhi Police's 'Operation Shastra'—a campaign targeting illegal weapons and their online display by potential criminals.

Deepak, aiming for social media fame, uploaded videos flaunting a country-made pistol. Police intervention based on social monitoring led to his arrest, recovering a pistol and cartridge. Previously implicated in thefts, Deepak sourced the weapon from an associate named Himanshu.
