Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has called on the central government to expedite the payment of dues related to the Jal Jeevan Mission. In a letter to Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C R Patil, she urged the immediate release of funds totaling Rs 133.27 crore for Wayanad district alone.

Vadra warned that unpaid dues were causing significant delays in both ongoing and new projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission, essential for providing tap water to rural households. She noted that many contractors have stalled work due to financial constraints.

Launched in 2019, the Jal Jeevan Mission aims to ensure safe and adequate drinking water for rural India, and it has been extended to 2028. Gandhi emphasized the need for timely financial support to meet project goals.
