Supreme Court to Hear Case on Ending TPS for Refugees
The Supreme Court will consider the Trump administration's attempt to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for refugees from crisis-hit countries like Haiti and Syria. Current protections for 1.3 million people remain in place temporarily. The decision could impact the legal status of thousands facing potential deportation.

The Supreme Court is set to deliberate on the Trump administration's efforts to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for individuals escaping war and natural disasters, including from nations like Haiti and Syria.
This comes as the current protections, affecting approximately 1.3 million people, remain intact following lower court interventions. The administration's stance, which has previously found favor with the conservative-majority court, previously allowed the cessation of TPS for 600,000 Venezuelans while legal battles continued, heightening deportation risks.
The administration proposes a broad ruling to prevent court intervention when the Department of Homeland Security aims to end TPS designations, disputing claims of racial bias in the decision-making process.
