In Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, former Naxal militants are transforming their lives by acquiring everyday skills, thanks to a police-led initiative focused on reintegration. Once notorious for their association with violence, these individuals are now seeking peace and self-reliance.
Ten surrendered Naxalites, consisting equally of men and women, are undergoing training in sewing and driving at local police facilities. This comes as part of a larger government strategy to eradicate Naxalism throughout India by 2026, according to state officials.
Families affected by Naxal violence are also finding solace in new job opportunities. The state has moved some to roles within the police force, sending a message of change and hope across the community.
