A parliamentary panel has called for the creation of Hindi domain-specific lexicons in sectors such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and health sciences. This initiative aims to enhance the practical usability of Hindi in technical and administrative communication. The report was tabled in both houses of Parliament on Tuesday, earning praise for the Ministry's ambitious targets for 2026–27.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs applauded the measurable goals set by the Department of Official Language. These include translating 20,000 letters and 40,000 pages, providing Hindi training to 25,000 personnel, training 1,175 officials via the Central Translation Bureau, and expanding the Hindi Shabd Sindhu repository to 7.5 lakh words.
Lauding recent technological interventions, the report highlights the update of the AI-based translation platform 'Bharati – Bahubhashi Anuvada Sarthi' and its integration with the e-Office system. The panel also emphasized the need for an effective performance-monitoring framework to assess the quality and utilisation of translated content across governmental departments.
