Escalating West Asia Conflict: India's Evacuation Efforts and Diplomatic Stance
In the wake of the ongoing West Asia conflict, around 2.44 lakh Indians have returned home since February 28. As the West Asia conflict intensifies, the Indian government reported that approximately 2.44 lakh citizens have returned from the region since February 28. Additional Secretary Aseem R Mahajan highlighted that five Indian nationals have died amid the unrest, with one still missing, as efforts to facilitate safe repatriation continue.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal revealed that Indian nationals, including students, successfully crossed from Iran into Armenia and Azerbaijan, augmenting a broader evacuation strategy. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged with EU leaders, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy as keys to resolving the conflict.
With airspace challenges across the Gulf, airlines are adjusting operations to ensure safe passage. The Ministry maintains collaboration with state governments and Indian missions abroad to prioritize the safety and security of its citizens.
