Comprehensive Fire Safety Reform in Delhi

Delhi's Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has instigated a comprehensive fire safety audit after a tragic fire incident in Palam, Delhi, claiming nine lives. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority, including Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, also addressed urban flooding issues and the city's supply of essential commodities amid geopolitical tensions.

In a pivotal move to strengthen fire safety in Delhi, Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has ordered a thorough fire safety audit across the city. The decision comes after a devastating fire in a multi-storey building in Palam resulted in nine fatalities and several injuries.

At a high-level meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), which included Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, strategies were discussed to enhance fire prevention and other significant concerns such as urban flooding were addressed. Gupta announced a magisterial inquiry into the tragic incident.

The meeting also reviewed the supply of LPG, PNG, petrol, and diesel, given the evolving geopolitical situation in West Asia. This aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for proactive disaster risk management, aimed at safeguarding residents and infrastructure from diverse threats.
