Authorities in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district have apprehended a murder suspect, Laxman Hessa, who had been evading capture for three weeks. The arrest came after a tip-off from local villagers led police to Hessa, as he attempted to flee to Tamil Nadu.
Hessa, a resident of Chalgi village, has been charged in connection with the murder of Sridhar Bari, which occurred on March 2. The police nabbed Hessa when he returned home to collect his Aadhaar card, crucial for his planned escape.
According to police reports, the victim, Bari, was killed in a violent confrontation after allegedly abusing Hessa's family members in an inebriated state. Further investigation led to the recovery of crucial evidence, including the blood-stained weapon used in the crime.
