A Delhi court has denied interim bail to former Aam Aadmi Party councillor Tahir Hussain, embroiled in the 2020 Delhi riots case, but mandated that his surgery be performed within 15 days. Additional Sessions Judge Parveen Singh's decision followed Hussain's plea for a one-month interim bail due to medical concerns.
The judge remarked that while Hussain's required procedure is elective, it must not be unjustly delayed. Despite stable health reports, the court acknowledged the accused's right to timely treatment.
The prosecution contested the bail, arguing that Hussain's condition wasn't critical. Nonetheless, the court emphasized timely medical intervention and directed authorities to ensure post-operative care, irrespective of Hussain's ongoing judicial custody since April 2020.
