Security forces in Manipur have seized a substantial cache of firearms, ammunition, and explosive devices from various districts, according to a police statement released on Saturday.
Among the discoveries were an AK-56 rifle, grenades, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) found across several districts, including Kakching and Tengnoupal. Notably, 85 live rounds and camouflage bulletproof vests were also recovered from areas such as Imphal West.
The operations are part of ongoing security efforts following ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo groups beginning in May 2023, which has left over 260 people dead and thousands homeless.
