Union Minister Suresh Gopi has stated that the FCRA amendments should not be a cause for concern for churches, clarifying that the changes target only those who violate the norms. He assured that the amendments aim to protect national interests and do not specifically target any religion.

The minister's remarks come amid increasing concerns from church heads over the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act amendments, currently under consideration by the Lok Sabha. Gopi emphasized that the regulations are for the protection of people's properties, not focusing on any religious group.

Gopi reassured that churches keeping proper accounts have no reason to fear the amendments. He has reached out to Christian bishops with an audio message, explaining the amendment provisions and assuring them that compliant organizations have nothing to worry about.
