Delhi Court Verdict: Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti Convicted in Cheating Case

In a significant legal development, a Delhi court has convicted Congress MLA Rajendra Bharti, representing Madhya Pradesh, on charges of conspiracy and financial misconduct. The court found Bharti guilty of engaging in a conspiracy to defraud the Zila Sahkari Krishi Aur Grahmin Vikas Bank, alongside other individuals.

Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh highlighted that Bharti and co-accused Raghuvir Sharan Prajapati were involved in forging bank documents, extending the interest duration beyond its intended term to benefit illicitly. The judge dismissed Bharti's claims of political victimization as unsubstantiated after examining evidence presented during the trial.

This verdict follows the case's transfer from Madhya Pradesh to Delhi by the Supreme Court, a decision influenced by concerns over witness intimidation during the trial proceedings. The Supreme Court had emphasized the state's responsibility to guarantee a fair trial in such sensitive cases.
