Judicial Officers Gheraoed Over Electoral Roll Controversy in West Bengal

Tension escalated in West Bengal's Malda district as seven judicial officers were surrounded by protesters over the alleged deletion of names from the electoral rolls. The demonstration began mid-afternoon outside the Kaliachak 2 Block Development Office.

Despite the request for a dialogue, the officers were denied entry, prompting protesters to maintain their demonstration into the evening. Among those trapped inside the premises were three female judicial officers.

The Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office has taken note of the situation, instructing the district magistrate and superintendent of police to address the issue immediately. A report has also been requested from the Director General of Police regarding this incident.
