In a significant crackdown, Punjab police announced the dismantling of an inter-state illegal arms supply module with the arrest of four suspects on Thursday. Patiala police seized 10 sophisticated self-loading firearms during the operation, according to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused procured the firearms from Bihar with the intent to supply them across Punjab for criminal undertakings. The investigation suggests that the arms were part of a plot by a gang to target a rival criminal associated with the Goldy Dhillon network, aiming to establish territorial supremacy, Yadav mentioned on X.
Authorities have registered a case and are conducting an extensive probe to trace the supply chain's backward and forward linkages, with the objective of dismantling the entire network, Yadav added.
