A Chinese national has been apprehended in Nepal for allegedly orchestrating a high-value cryptocurrency scam, according to police reports.
Identified as Zhu Yi-eng, 35, the suspect was arrested in Kathmandu's Thamel area, revealed Pavan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson at the Kathmandu District Police Circle.
Authorities seized documents and mobile devices, which purportedly contain evidence of transactions exceeding NRs 179.97 million. Zhu's alleged operation involved deceiving local Nepalese citizens through social media, promising attractive investment opportunities.
