A man suspected of sexually assaulting his two minor daughters was arrested in Muzaffarnagar after a tense gunfire exchange with police officials revealed on Friday.

Authorities intercepted the suspect on Datiyana Road late Thursday night. Acting on a complaint filed by the victims' mother, a case was registered against the accused under Sections 64 and 65 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.

The confrontation occurred when police tried to stop the suspect for questioning. He allegedly opened fire, forcing a retaliatory response, resulting in the suspect being wounded and subsequently detained. He now remains under medical care. Police seized a country-made pistol and ammunition from him. The accused's legal history includes charges from 2023 for similar alleged crimes, with further investigations ongoing.
