Stalin Slams FCRA Amendment Bill as 'Draconian'

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin criticized the Centre's proposed FCRA Amendment Bill 2026 as 'draconian', claiming it targets minorities. He urged its withdrawal and accused the BJP-led government of failing in foreign policy and in protecting Tamil Nadu fishermen. Stalin noted the bill infringes on constitutional rights and religious freedom.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has taken a strong stance against the Centre's proposed FCRA Amendment Bill 2026, labeling it as 'draconian' and primarily targeting minority groups, particularly Christians. He has called for its immediate withdrawal.

In a rally, Stalin criticized the BJP-led central government for what he sees as failures in foreign policy and its inability to safeguard Tamil Nadu's fishermen. Moreover, Stalin charged that Prime Minister Modi has relegated India to a position of diminished influence even among smaller neighboring nations.

Stalin emphasized that the FCRA Amendment Bill undermines constitutional rights and presents a grave threat to religious freedom and those involved in social service. According to him, this legislation represents a severe attack on fundamental liberties.
