In a significant drug bust, the Excise Department apprehended a man identified as Rashid, confiscating 142 grams of MDMA and four grams of hashish oil in Kochi on Wednesday. This operation was part of a routine vehicle inspection.

The initial search led to the discovery of 48 grams of MDMA and hashish oil near Palluruthy. Further investigation at Rashid's rented accommodation in Edappally revealed an additional 94 grams of MDMA, highlighting the scale of his operations.

Authorities stated that Rashid was a major player in the local drug trade, sourcing MDMA from groups in other states and distributing it in Kochi at inflated prices. He has been remanded in judicial custody following his court appearance.
