The girl, a class 7 student, resided with her mother and brother in Rangia. Her mother worked as a maid, while her father was employed at a motor garage. The family hailed from Tamulpur district. It was during a trip to their village home for the Rongali Bihu festival that the alleged crime took place.
Upon returning to Rangia, the girl disclosed the incident to her mother before allegedly taking her own life. The Rangia Police have launched a manhunt for the accused, who is currently absconding. The case has sparked significant attention, highlighting urgent societal issues.
