Tragic Helicopter Crash Claims Eight Lives in Remote Indonesian Forest

A helicopter crash in Indonesia's West Kalimantan province resulted in the deaths of all eight people on board. Rescuers are retrieving bodies and wreckage in the remote, densely forested area where the aircraft lost contact shortly after takeoff from a plantation. The cause of the crash is still unknown.

In a tragic incident, all eight individuals aboard a helicopter lost their lives following a crash in Indonesia's West Kalimantan province, officials confirmed on Friday.

The Airbus H130, operated by Matthew Air Nusantara, vanished from radar mere minutes after departing a plantation area in Melawi, according to Mohammad Syafii, head of Indonesia's rescue agency. Debris, presumably from the helicopter's tail, was spotted roughly three kilometers from the last known contact point, Syafii elaborated.

Rescue teams, comprising military and police personnel, are navigating the challenging terrain on foot to reach the crash site. The plantation, belonging to Citra Mahkota, witnessed the tragic demise of its six passengers and two crew members. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the crash's cause.
