High-Speed Drama: Constable Injured in Late-Night SUV Pursuit

A Delhi Police head constable was injured after being hit by a speeding SUV during a night patrol in the Mandir Marg area. The constable, Mahendra, was pursuing a suspicious vehicle that fled upon spotting the police. Efforts to identify the driver are ongoing.

A Delhi Police head constable was severely injured in a late-night incident while on patrol duty in the Mandir Marg area, police sources reported. The incident unfolded on April 13 when head constable Mahendra and his colleague, constable Deepesh, were patrolling from 8 pm to 8 am in the New Delhi district.

At approximately 11 pm, Mahendra spotted a black SUV parked suspiciously near Aasharam Bapu Ashram. When Mahendra approached the vehicle and attempted to engage with the driver, the driver panicked and fled towards Dhaula Kuan. Sensing danger, Mahendra pursued the SUV on his motorcycle, with another officer joining the chase.

The pursuit ended near Shankar Chowk at a red light, where the driver attempted to reverse, hitting Mahendra. The collision left Mahendra with serious injuries, and the suspect managed to escape. Mahendra was hospitalized immediately, and a case was registered the following day. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage to track down the suspect.
