In a significant crackdown, authorities in Gurugram reclaimed half an acre of government land from a known criminal in Sector 63 on Monday. The land, occupied by Nitesh alias Bandar from Kadarpur village, was being illegally used to generate income through rent, with structures valued at around Rs 25 crore.

Officials revealed that the site had become a center for unauthorized activities, featuring nearly 50 illegal jhuggies, two scrap godowns, and multiple unlawful borewells used to run a rogue water supply network. The accused has a history of serious crimes including assault and kidnapping, authorities noted.

The demolition operation, which involved a large team from GMDA's Enforcement Wing, MCG, CIA Sector 31 unit, and the local police, saw nearly 100 officers on-site to ensure the protest-free eviction and restoration of law and order, according to enforcement officer R S Batth.
