The passing out parade of 986 women constables at the Recruitment Training Centre (RTC) was held at the Reserve Police Lines. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the event, which signifies a notable move towards women's empowerment in the UP Police.
In a statement, the UP government highlighted that comprehensive training for these constables included modern policing, cybercrime prevention, and many other essential aspects of law enforcement. The live telecast of the event underscored the increasing role of women in the police force across the state.
This initiative marks a pivotal change since 2017, with the state showing commitment through reserving 20% of police roles for women, significantly increasing representation from just 10,000 women in the UP Police between 1947 to 2017.
