In a startling turn of events, two men have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a 78-year-old man in South Mumbai. The suspects, including the nephew of a notorious gangster killed nearly three decades ago, allegedly sought revenge against the elderly victim, suspecting him of being a police informant.
Sadiq Jawar, 29, nephew of deceased gangster Sadiq Kalia, and his associate Naushad Mithani, are accused of hacking Iqbal Ibrahim Selia to death with a chopper. The attack occurred in Selia's home in Nagpada, igniting a dual investigation by local police and the crime branch.
The motive stems back 27 years, with Jawar believing Selia's tip-off led to his uncle's death in a police encounter. Upon tracing the suspects to Nagpur, authorities have apprehended them, with both admitting culpability. Further investigations are underway, police confirmed.
