An inspiring story unfolded in Assam as a child with intellectual disabilities was reunited with her family after nearly a year, through the intervention of Aadhaar biometric data.
Local residents found the child wandering alone at Dilli Ghat, Namrup, on May 29, 2025. She was promptly handed over to the local police station, wherein the Child Welfare Committee, Dibrugarh, intervened by referring her to Mrinaljyoti Jyotiniwas Children Home for safeguarding.
To identify her, officials at the children's home sought help from the UIDAI Regional Office in Guwahati. They recommended submitting her fingerprint biometrics for Aadhaar enrolment to match with existing records. This successful match led to discovering her home address in Charaideo district and reuniting her with her family at Borhat tea estate.
