Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri plans a key visit to Nepal in May, marking the first high-level interaction post the establishment of Balendra Shah's government. Discussions will focus on bilateral relations and reviewing India-funded projects. This trip also lays groundwork for Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s future visit to India.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is poised to visit Nepal in May, a significant diplomatic engagement following the establishment of Balendra Shah’s government. Misri's upcoming trip has not yet been finalized but is anticipated in the first half of the month, according to sources within Nepal's Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The primary agenda during Misri's visit involves enhancing bilateral relations and assessment of India-funded projects in Nepal. Earlier, during diplomatic talks in Mauritius, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Nepalese counterpart Shisir Khanal discussed increasing mutual cooperation, with Jaishankar suggesting Misri's visit to align with the new government's priorities.
The visit is also strategically aligned to foster Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s forthcoming visit to India, further amplifying Indo-Nepal relations. The official itinerary and announcement for Misri’s visit remain pending.
