A one-year-old child was rescued from a hotel in Kaloor where a couple was found intoxicated, according to officials. Ernakulam District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) acted on a police tip-off about the child's distress.
Upon arrival, police discovered a man and woman heavily under the influence, with the child allegedly neglected. Authorities took immediate protective custody of the child, as neither adult could present documentation proving parenthood or marriage.
On Wednesday, efforts by the couple, ages 21 and 24, to reclaim custody failed due to their inability to prove parental rights. Consequently, the CWC transferred the child to Palakkad, ensuring safety until proper documentation and care were verified.
