Major Crackdown on Sand Mafia in Maharashtra's Beed District

Police in Maharashtra's Beed district conducted a major operation against sand mafia, seizing equipment including sand and tractors worth Rs 13 lakh. The raid was executed in Georai tehsil following specific intelligence, resulting in the interception of two unregistered tractors involved in illegal sand extraction.

A decisive operation against the sand mafia unfolded in Maharashtra's Beed district as police executed a raid in Georai tehsil on Thursday. The operation led to the seizure of equipment, sand, and two tractors, collectively valued at Rs 13 lakh, authorities reported. The raid occurred in the Mhalaspimpagaon area around 11 AM after specific intelligence prompted action.

According to officials, the crackdown involved the interception and seizure of two unregistered tractors extracting sand from the Godavari riverbed, a move ordered by Superintendent of Police Navneet Kanwat. The police successfully executed the operation, demonstrating a firm stance against illegal sand mining practices.

Post-seizure, the collected vehicles and equipment were transported to the Gevrai police station. The process for registering a First Information Report (FIR) is currently underway, marking a critical step in curbing the unlawful activities of the sand mafia in the region.
