Allegations and Controversy: Film Director and VHP Leader Face POCSO Act Charges

An FIR has been lodged under the POCSO Act against four individuals, including a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader and a film director, police reported on Thursday. This legal action follows a complaint filed by a young woman who gained attention during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela and later married a Muslim friend. The accused are VHP leader Anil Vilayil and film director Sanoj Mishra, among others.

The FIR, registered on Wednesday, revolves around the woman's allegations that the director misbehaved with her during the production of his film, 'The Diary of Manipur.' The Ernakulam Central Police said Anil Vilayil allegedly defamed the complainant on social media. Her confidential statement was recorded by a magistrate later that evening.

The case is being transferred to Madhya Pradesh Police, as the incident reportedly took place there. The matter is also linked to a marriage dispute after the girl's family claimed she is underage, though she insists she is 18. The Kerala High Court granted her husband, Farman, interim protection from arrest. Leading CPI(M) politicians attended their recent wedding in Thiruvananthapuram.
