The Allahabad High Court has given the green light for the expansion of the Noida International Airport, ruling in favor of land acquisition in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The court dismissed petitions from affected landowners, asserting that the acquisition process adhered to the 2013 land acquisition law.
A division bench consisting of Justice M C Tripathi and Justice Kunal Ravi Singh noted the absence of any material irregularity in the procedure and confirmed that the statutory framework was followed meticulously from notification issuance to compensation award.
Though the petitions raised concerns about displacement and rehabilitation rather than opposing agricultural land acquisition, the court instructed authorities to ensure the implementation of rehabilitation measures before residential lands are possessed.
