A major breakthrough in combating drug trafficking was achieved as Kulgam Police dismantled an inter-state narcotics network, seizing illegal assets valued at Rs 92.73 lakhs in Jammu. This operation stemmed from a routine patrolling exercise near Qazigund Railway Station, leading to the arrest of Mohammad Rafiq Mir.
Rafiq's apprehension, in possession of 16 grams of heroin, prompted further investigations under the NDPS Act, eventually uncovering connections to Bagh Hussain Kasana. Kasana, caught with 265 grams of heroin-like substance, was arrested, revealing his alleged involvement in extensive drug trafficking operations across the Kashmir Valley.
The investigation yielded vital information on narcotics trafficking, leading to freezing assets, including land and residential property, unlawfully acquired through drug trade proceeds. This action underlines the police's commitment to dismantling networks profiting from illicit activities.
