Emotional scenes played out on Sunday as the last respects were paid to three of the four police officers tragically killed in a Maoist-planted explosive incident in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district. The ceremony, witnessed by grieving families, security personnel, and public representatives, offered a solemn reflection of sacrifice.
The tribute, laden with wreaths, was held at the Police Lines in Narayanpur district. It was aimed at remembering Inspector Sukhram Vatti, Constables Krishna Komra, and Sanjay Gadhpale, who faced fatal injuries during an operation to dispose of hidden explosives on Saturday.
Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Sundarraj Pattilingam, affirmed the officers' bravery in their duty. He highlighted that this incident marked the first explosion linked to Naxalites since the state's declaration as Maoist-free. The tragic loss underscores ongoing challenges faced in anti-Naxal operations.
