Urgent Call for Action: Relocation of Jawahar Nagar Dump Yard

Leaders from various political parties in Telangana are urging Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to relocate the Jawahar Nagar dump yard due to severe health risks. The site, receiving about 8,000 tonnes of garbage daily, has become a significant cause of air pollution and foul odors, affecting local residents.

Leaders from a Joint Action Committee representing all major parties in Telangana, including the ruling Congress, BJP, and BRS, have made a fervent appeal to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. They urged for the relocation of the Jawahar Nagar dump yard, citing severe health hazards posed to the residents in the area.

The delegation included BJP Lok Sabha member Eatala Rajender from Malkajgiri, BRS MLA Ch Malla Reddy, Congress leader Vajresh Yadav, and Joint Action Committee Convener Shankar Narayan, among others. Their appeal is backed by growing concerns over pollution-related issues caused by the dump yard's operations.

Located at Jawahar Nagar, the dump yard processes approximately 8,000 tonnes of waste daily, as per January 2024 data. The surrounding community has long suffered from air pollution and an unpleasant odor, intensifying demands for its relocation to mitigate the adverse impact on public health and daily life.
