BJP Lawyers Urge Calm Amid Political Transition in West Bengal

Lawyers from the BJP's legal cell requested the Calcutta High Court to withhold adverse orders against the West Bengal government during the transition to a new administration, following BJP's electoral victory. The plea was presented before Chief Justice Sujoy Paul while BJP preps to replace TMC's 15-year rule.

In an effort to maintain stability during a significant political shift in West Bengal, attorneys linked to the BJP's legal cell urged the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday not to enact any adverse rulings against the outgoing government. The request was part of a broader strategy as the BJP prepares to assume power following their recent electoral victory.

Advocates Rajdeep Majumdar, Dhiraj Trivedi, and Susmita Saha Dutta submitted appeals across different courts, emphasizing the importance of a smooth transition period as the BJP gears up to replace the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after its 15-year tenure. The lawyers requested a temporary pause in adverse judgments to facilitate the incoming administration's setup.

According to Susmita Saha Dutta, Chief Justice Sujoy Paul acknowledged the verbal requests, considering the political landscape's current transitions. The BJP's electoral win, capturing 207 seats in the 294-member assembly, marks a pivotal change in West Bengal's governance.
