In a successful interstate operation, police rescued two minor girls from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, over a month after they were abducted from Beed district in Maharashtra, officials reported on Wednesday.
The main suspect, Vijay Mahadev Kavhle from Nanded district, Maharashtra, was captured on Tuesday, thanks to coordinated efforts over four days, as per a release by the Beed police. Kavhle allegedly kidnapped the girls on April 5 from Umapur village, Georai taluka, Beed.
The investigation faced challenges as the suspect frequently relocated, initially eluding searches in Maharashtra's Thane district. However, digital tracking suggested the presence of the victims near the Bihar-UP border. This led to a targeted operation in Ballia, resulting in the suspect's capture and the rescue of the girls. Authorities continue to probe the case.
