The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reported a slight decline in Delhi's murder cases for the year 2024, with 504 incidents documented compared to 506 in 2023. This marks a continued trend from 509 reported in 2022.
The 'Crime in India 2024' report highlighted that Delhi's murder rate stood at 2.3 per lakh population, which remains higher than the national average of 1.9.
Despite the decrease in cases, the city's charge-sheeting rate was notably high at 90.8%, indicating effective police action in a majority of the cases. Among Union Territories, Delhi recorded the highest number of murders, surpassing Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir.
