Russia's Warning Amid Victory Day Tensions
Russia's Foreign Ministry warned diplomatic missions to evacuate Kyiv due to potential strikes if Ukraine disrupts Russia's May 9 Victory Day events. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized rapid evacuation in response to Ukrainian President Zelenskiy's statements about disrupting the events. Commemorations will proceed with limited military presence for security.
As tensions escalate, Russia's Foreign Ministry issued a stern warning on Wednesday to diplomatic missions in Kyiv. The ministry advised rapid evacuation of staff in the event of a retaliatory strike from Moscow, should Ukraine interfere with Russia's May 9 Victory Day commemorations.
Moscow's apprehension follows Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's aggressive statements made during a European Political Community meeting in Armenia. These comments have raised the specter of potential disruptions to the commemorations planned around the military parade at Red Square.
According to Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia's Foreign Ministry, these disruptions could lead to inevitable strikes by Russian Armed Forces. Zakharova's warning highlights the scaled-down commemorative events due to security concerns, including the absence of military hardware.
