A shocking incident unfolded in Teli Mohalla when a 72-year-old man was arrested for allegedly storing his deceased daughter's body in his home for almost four months. Udaybhanu Biswas, a retired officer from West Bengal, failed to perform the last rites for his daughter, Priyanka, who died on December 1, 2025, reportedly due to illness.
Local residents raised the alarm in April upon detecting a strong smell emanating from the house. After their report, police intervened and discovered the decomposed remains of Priyanka Biswas, then primarily skeletonized, inside a locked room. Law enforcement officials said Biswas attempted to mask the odor using perfume.
Following his arrest on Wednesday, preliminary investigations led to a psychiatric assessment for Biswas at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Medical College. The body's autopsy was scheduled after necessary legal procedures were followed. The incident has sparked a wave of concern and curiosity in the community.
