The Supreme Court of India has taken a significant step in resolving a family dispute by appointing former Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud as a mediator. The case involves a contentious disagreement over a family trust between the mother and wife of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur.
The court has emphasized the importance of keeping the dispute private, urging the parties not to make public or social media comments. In April, the court suggested mediation, a proposal that all counsel for the parties have now agreed to.
Justice Chandrachud's mediation will be crucial in determining the future proceedings. Meanwhile, legal action regarding the estate and assets continues at the Delhi High Court. The next session with the Supreme Court is scheduled for August.
