The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has praised a recent Supreme Court ruling that nullified discriminatory bail conditions set by Odisha courts.
These conditions forced Dalits and Adivasis to perform janitorial duties in police stations. CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby hailed the court's intervention as a positive step.
Critics have long contended that such practices reflect a deep-seated caste bias within the judiciary, counter to constitutional values. This landmark judgment also criticized lower courts for undermining fundamental rights, emphasizing the need for an unbiased justice system.
