Powering Up: Poland's EV Ambitions Take a Leap Forward
ElectroMobility Poland plans to partner with Taiwan's Foxconn to develop an EV production hub in southern Poland, aiming to boost domestic EV manufacturing as European demand rises. This collaboration could form a joint venture, focusing on technology transfer and creating a local brand with three vehicle models.
ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) has announced plans to collaborate with Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn to establish an electric vehicle production and research hub in southern Poland. This move is designed to position EMP as a key player in the growing European electric vehicle market.
According to industry data from ACEA, battery electric vehicle sales in the European Union surged by about a third in the first quarter, driven in part by rising fuel prices linked to geopolitical tensions. EMP and Foxconn are discussing the possibility of creating a joint venture with Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, aiming to finalize agreements by the second half of 2026.
The joint venture plans include developing a local EV brand, starting with the launch of three models, and constructing a manufacturing facility in Jaworzno, Poland. This facility will feature body and paint shops, battery assembly, and a research and development center focused on software and digital mobility solutions. The project is supported by Poland's National Recovery Plan and the Reprivatisation Fund, with Foxconn providing both technology and capital investment.
