Panel Formed to Implement Ghee Procurement Reforms

The Andhra Pradesh government has formed a panel to review the recommendations of a committee on ghee procurement issues by TTD. This follows a CBI-led probe into adulterated ghee supply. The panel will suggest actions and a monitoring mechanism to ensure accountability and effective implementation.

The Andhra Pradesh government has established a high-level committee to review and implement the findings of a report concerning ghee procurement practices of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). This arises after investigations led by the Supreme Court-appointed CBI found irregularities in the ghee supply chain.

Previously, a retired IAS officer was appointed to delve into these findings, pinpointing deficiencies and procedural failures while offering thorough recommendations. The submitted report urged systemic changes to eliminate lapses and enforce accountability within the procurement process.

In response, the newly appointed committee, led by Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad, will focus on potential administrative, disciplinary, and legal measures. They are expected to propose a prioritised and monitored implementation plan, submitting their findings within a week.
